In-Person Piano Lessons

From Classical Foundations to Accompaniment, Jazz & Arranging

I’m a pianist and music educator based in Pullman, Washington.

My lessons are built on a strong classical piano foundation, while also giving students the opportunity to explore chords, accompaniment, Pop, CCM, Jazz, improvisation, and other areas of music as they grow.

I believe learning piano should be more than simply playing the notes on the page. My goal is to help students understand, hear, and express music with confidence.

🎼 Piano Fundamentals & Classical Repertoire

Classical piano training provides an important foundation for developing good technique, reading skills, rhythm, music theory, and musical expression.

Beginner students primarily use the Faber Piano Adventures method, along with supplemental materials based on each student's level and needs.

For younger students, I also use flashcards, music activity games, and rhythm activities to make learning music theory and basic concepts fun and engaging.

Students work on:

  • Piano technique

  • Note reading and rhythm

  • Music theory

  • Sight-reading

  • Musical expression

  • Classical repertoire

🎹 Chords & Accompaniment

As students build their piano foundation, they can go beyond simply playing from traditional sheet music and begin learning how to understand and use chords in real music.

Depending on their level, students may explore:

  • Reading chord symbols

  • Understanding chord progressions

  • Playing from chords

  • Accompanying songs

  • Adding chords to melodies

  • Creating simple arrangements

🎶 Pop, CCM, Jazz & Improvisation

My lessons also give students the opportunity to explore Pop, CCM, Jazz, improvisation, accompaniment, and other contemporary styles alongside their classical studies.

Before moving to the United States, I spent about 10 years working professionally in South Korea, including recording for K-pop and drama OSTs, performing in concerts and studio sessions, and arranging music. I also continue to work as a jazz pianist and arranger.

Because of this background, I have a wide range of repertoire and can select music that fits each student's level and interests. When needed, I can also arrange or adapt pieces specifically for the student, making music accessible while still helping them grow.

This can be a great fit for students who want to build a strong classical foundation while also:

  • Playing their favorite Pop or CCM songs

  • Learning chords and accompaniment

  • Exploring Jazz and improvisation

  • Learning to play beyond the written notes

  • Experiencing different styles of music

Classical Piano → Chords → Accompaniment → Pop / CCM → Improvisation → Jazz

The path can be different for every student. My goal is to connect these areas naturally and help students develop a broader musical vocabulary through the piano.

👩🏻‍🏫 About the Teacher

I’m a pianist and music educator with professional performance and teaching experience in both South Korea and the United States.

Before moving to the U.S., I spent about 10 years working as a professional musician in South Korea, with experience in K-pop recording, drama OSTs, concert performance, studio sessions, music arranging, and musical accompaniment.

After moving to the United States, I taught Class Piano as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Washington State University. I continue to work in Washington State as a pianist, accompanist, arranger, and music educator.

I also create educational content and sheet music for Jazz Piano, reharmonization, and Gospel Piano through my YouTube channel, seulmusic.

My goal is to help students build a strong foundation at the piano while developing curiosity, confidence, and the ability to understand and express music in many different ways.
